Biography:

Chicago born, LA raised, now kinda living in Pennsylvania when she's not in Chicago; Makila is a second-year struggling to decide on a major. Maybe Cinema and Media Studies? Maybe Spanish? Maybe both?! When not contemplating majors, Makila is a big food enthusiast and loves talking about how Los Angeles is the city with the best food ever. You can try and fight her on this, but be warned— you will lose.

Makila never anticipated being in an a cappella group, but she realized she liked to sing for herself (pun intended) after having a blast performing in some high school musicals! Voices now has its resident theatre kid... do with that what you will. On-campus, you will always see Makila walking around with one airpod, vibing in her own world, most likely listening to Yebba or Giveon. But play some Silk Sonic, and you will instantly see how she lights up and starts grooving.

Outside of a cappella, Makila loves rewatching her favorite shoes and movies, like New Girl (which she has seen 2.5 times), The Office (fun fact: Makila once dressed up as Dwight for Halloween), The Vampire Diaries (she can perfectly recite the iconic Delena breakup scene), and High School Musical 2 (obviously the best one)!
